Want to enjoy riding one of the most popular classic attractions in Disney World without having to wait in line? Well, now you can thanks to the new and improved Dumbo the Flying Elephant attraction at the Magic Kingdom! Remember having to wait in line outside in the heat for long periods of time to ride Dumbo? Well, the ride has now been moved to the new Storybook Circus Land and features not one Dumbo spinner but two as well as an interactive tent.
You can choose to either use Disney’s FASTPASS or you can proceed to the regular stand by entrance.
The later is the one I recommend! You will be given a pager and allowed to enter a wonderfully themed area that looks just like the circus scene in Dumbo the movie. There is no queue once you get inside the tent. You are free to sit and enjoy the air condition while your children can run around and have fun. There is a small area for little ones in the center of the room featuring a small car that makes noise when you push certain buttons, a slide that’s the perfect size for young ones and a circus themed tower that has revolving pictures that you move to create a character.
Dumbo also flies over your head in this toddler area. In addition to the area for small children, there is a large net tunnel that goes around the tent where older kids can climb through with steps and slides. When it’s time for you to ride Dumbo the Flying Elephant, your pager will proceed to go off and then you will go to a cast member at the podium who will direct you to the ride. It’s a brilliant concept. My children loved the play area and I enjoyed seeing them have fun while in the air conditioned building. It was a welcome break from the summer heat. Truly a win win for all!
