Don’t let an unexpected injury hamper your Disney dream vacation. I had been planning my 40th birthday celebration at Walt Disney World for 6 months. Five days before we were scheduled to leave, my daughter injured her ankle cheerleading. The Doctor advised her not to walk on it for 2 weeks. We didn’t even think twice, we were going.
Two days before we were to leave, I called and ordered a scooter from Scootarama (will definitely use again) that was delivered to our Walt Disney World Resort. There was no way I was pushing a manual wheelchair around Disney, on my birthday. She is 14 and very responsible so I trusted that she would not run over any unsuspecting guests.
When we arrived at the airport, we went to the ticket counter & requested a wheelchair to be waiting at the gate when we landed at the Orlando International AirPort. This is so important, Orlando Airport is huge.
Once we checked in our resort it was time to head to the Magic Kingdom. As soon as we walked through the turnstiles, my husband and daughter headed straight to City Hall on Main Street. Explaining the situation, the Cast Member issued a Guest Assistance Card. This card will alert Cast Members to provide the assistance you have requested. It is NOT intended to provide immediate access. The card is good for up to five members of their party. Other members of the party would need to enter through the standard ques.
Now it was time to have some fun. All of the Cast Members at Disney was so accommodating. My favorite was the time that the Characters took with Whitney. I was amazed at how each one interacted with her. Not just one Character but all that we came in contact with.
Don’t let the little things set you back. All can be done and enjoyed at Disney. It is the Happiest Place on Earth.
