Mexico It Is!

It was time for a family vacation and my daughter was rooting for a destination. “Mexico, I want to see the Mayan Ruins”, she says. How can you go wrong visiting such a beautiful place with white sandy beaches and turquoise waters, and especially the historical Mayan Ruins, one of the “Seven Wonders of the World”! So Cancun, Mexico it was.

We stayed at the beautiful Beloved Hotel at Playa Mujeres, Cancun.  A very kid friendly hotel with many young families. It was more of a boutique hotel, with additional “casitas” on the beach, a small lobby and 3 restaurants, including a beach shack on the white sands serving grilled delicacies and brick oven pizza. All the food and drinks were included (all-inclusive). We certainly had our dose of Mexican food, which was to die for! All of the restaurants were ala cart, which was nice for an all-inclusive. By the second day, the staff knew our names and made sure that we were enjoying ourselves, which of course, who could not!

It was time to go sight seeing — yes, the Mayan ruins. We chose to go see Tulum Mayan Ruins. We were checking out prices on tours, but opted to rent a car so we could come and go as we pleased. It was a simple ride, one road to get there and about an hour away. When we arrived it was very well organized for parking and getting our tickets to see the ruins. We received a map at the entrance and went on our way. All I can say is if you visit Cancun or Riviera Maya, Tulum is a must see! It was breathtaking, especially with the backdrop of the beautiful turquoise ocean beneath us.

This is a destination we will definitely return to. The locals were so welcoming and friendly everywhere we went. I cannot wait to visit again!!
